This consultant led appointment type can provide further conservative treatment options and also surgical procedures. The two main conservative options that Mr Barlow-Kearsley can offer is:

  • Injection Therapy (steroid) and
  • Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT).

ESWT is a non-invasive and often very effective treatment for patients suffering from on-going heel pain.

In cases where other treatments such as ice therapy, orthotics, stretching and injection therapy have been unsuccessful, ESWT has proven to be an useful, non-surgical treatment.

With significant scientific research and the backing of NICE, overall 77% of chronic heel pain conditions that have not responded to other kinds of treatment were successful as a result of ESWT.
