Toronto Tales

1st November 2012

Welcome to our first ‘Toronto Tales’ Blog!
It is exciting times for us here at The Footcare Centre as Des Armstrong and Stuart Berry prepare to move work in Toronto, Canada.
Stuart has sat his licencing exams over in Toronto in the province of Ontario in order to register with the College of Chiropodists of Ontario and has been accepted onto the register to practice.

7th Nov 2012

Now registered with the College of Chiropodists of Ontario, Stuart is able to practice under a broad scope of practice as a chiropodist. As a registered ‘chiropodist’ (as foot specialists in Ontario are called) Stuart will treat a range of foot problems. “The practice of chiropody is the assessment of the foot and the treatment and prevention of diseases, disorders or dysfunctions of the foot by therapeutic, orthotic or palliative means”.
Stuart will assess and/or treat his patients with biomechanical interventions, orthotics, nail surgery, electrosurgery, vascular assessments and general Footcare. He will offer diabetic footcare and will use injection techniques.

Toronto on the Lake.
Lake Ontario divides The state of New York in the USA from the Province of Ontario in Canada and Toronto is a shoreline city sitting on the lakeshore of the North Eastern aspect of Lake Ontario, about 1 1/4 hours drive from Niagra Falls.
Southern Ontario gets four seasons, unlike some areas of Canada, although Stuart will be going in the Winter!!!

21st November 2012

Jayne Robertson and David Good will be our keen in-house operations and clinical managers. Both Jayne and David have been with the practice many years, and combined have worked with Stuart for 18 years!
Stuart says “You are in safe hands with Jayne and David”.
“I know how it feels to have to change practitioners, having to go through it now myself moving. My wonderful team have been on hand in the past to help with my patients when needed and it always works so well – that’s the beauty of having a team like ours look after you.”
As managing directors Stuart Berry and Des Armstrong continue to be fully involved with The Footcare Centre whilst enjoying their time overseas.

1st December

Lift Off!
Here we go…On 4th December Des Armstrong and Stuart Berry take-off for Toronto. Heathrow, Terminal 5. The ‘Toronto Tales’ will then truly start.
“What a month! Furniture packed and shipped, car sold, apartment rented…busy, busy!”
“Once in Toronto it will be a matter of house, car and all those essentials!
“The shipped furniture arrives sometime in January…hopefully!”

21st December 2012

“The First 2-3 weeks here in Toronto have been crazy! In next to no time I have somewhere to live, got a car, started exploring, been into the chiropody office 3 times….and been ice skating!
The Christmas tree is up, it has started to snow today and it is cold! (although not that cold…surprisingly).
Skype has become a big friend and face-to-face calls are wonderful ways to stay connected. I have spoken to so many new people and we had our first of many video conference calls with the Weybridge practice today which was a bit different. Mind you it would be a bit tricky to do feet that way!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year (or should I say “Happy Holidays”) to all the patients back at Weybridge.
