Reflexology
There is no substitute for the human touch.
For
those who have already discovered it, reflexology is just about one of the
nicest things in the world….better than chocolate, even better than ………well
you can decide that! It is a great way to feel and look better as well as
treating yourself better. It is good for you, with no additives or added
ingredients. All you need to get started is a pair of feet. Got
those….excellent, then you are ready to go.
The facts
Reflexology is a non-invasive, pressure massage to the feet (or hands) and
can help to activate the natural healing powers of the body. The
long-established theory is that there are energy zones that run throughout
the body linking to reflex points in the feet that correspond to all major
organs, glands and body parts.
By
applying pressure to the reflex points on the feet, a reflexologist can
locate areas relating to the holistic bodily health. Reflexologists help to
correct the energy imbalances in the bodily systems thus restoring the
body’s natural healing power.
So what are the
eight bodily systems?
The
eight systems that reflexology balances during a treatment (along with
examples of part of that system) are: Skeletal (spine), Muscular (neck
muscles), Vascular (Heart), Endocrine (Hormones), Respiratory (Lungs),
Genito-urinary (Bladder), Digestive (Stomach), Neurological (Brain)
The specifics
about what it can do
Reflexology has the ability to relieve tensions, improve circulation and
allows the body to heal itself at its own pace. Our reflexologists find that
it can make a positive difference to disorders such as migraine, sinus
problems, circulatory problems, back problems, tension & stress.
Since
reflexology treats the whole person and not just the symptom most people
find they benefit from treatments in one way or another. This may simply be
the ability to relax easier, through to actual pain relief. It should be
noted that reflexology is not a cure for any symptom or disease simply a
possible aid for rebalancing your body.
What happens?
On your
first visit, you will have a preliminary chat with the practitioner, where
details of your medical history will be taken. The treatment will then begin
with the work on your feet (or hands), noting any problem areas. There may
be slight discomfort or tenderness during the treatment, which is usually
minimal. This indicates to the reflexologist ‘blockages’ or ‘imbalances’ in
your system. In the main reflexology is comforting and relaxing while at the
same time stimulating your body’s healing response.
Free
consultation
The first treatment will be slightly longer than a normal session as this
includes a holistic lifestyle consultation (about 1 ˝ hours). This
consultation is offered free of charge, so you only pay for a normal
treatment.
Subsequent treatments usually last between 45 – 60 minutes. The number
of treatments required will depend on the presenting conditions;
however in order to benefit from reflexology, it is recommended that a
course of 4 initial treatments are booked at weekly or fortnightly
intervals. While one treatment alone is pleasant, it is unlikely to
offer any long-term benefit
