The Footcare Centre Special Patient Offers for Chiropody and Reflexology TreatmentsSwedish Massage Treatment

Knots in your muscle?   Tight tissues?
Stressed and need to relax?

With the fast, stressful pace of life we lead in the modern world, we could all benefit from taking time out from our busy schedules to relax and pamper ourselves and feel the positive effects that a Swedish Massage has to offer.  Anyone who has experienced such a massage will know how effective they are in easing stress and tension from our daily lives, as well as helping to alleviate muscular tension, creating a feeling of relaxation and well-being.

Swedish Massage Facts
Swedish Massage is a combination of massage techniques used by the ancient civilisations of China, India, Egypt, Rome and Greece and was developed in the 1800’s by a Swedish Physiologist called Per Henrik Ling, who introduced the techniques we use today, which include Effleurage, Petrissage, Tapotement and Vibration.

Massage is composed of various manipulations of the soft body tissue, such as muscle.  The word “massage” is believed to have come from the Arabic word “Mass” or “Mash” which means to press softly.

Benefits of Massage Therapy
Massage has both Physiological and Psychological effects on the body:

Physiological Effects include, improving blood circulation, Lymphatic drainage, aids digestion, improves the skin condition, encourages sleep, removes lactic acid from tired, aching muscles, relieves stiff joints and encourages deeper, relaxed breathing.

Psychological effects include relaxing the body and mind, soothing, gives a sense of well-being and creates a feeling of calmness.
